wow! that could actually be him! Storrs Mackyes was in Onondaga Cty, NY by 1810 and it lists him as being from CT. Here is an excerpt from an email I received from a fellow about the CT/Onondaga County, NY connection...

"That is roughly the same
immigration pattern followed by my 4 greats grandparents Oliver Cummings and
Esther Chaffee. They, and at least six other interrelated families, came
from the area around Ashford, Windham County, Connecticut. All settled in
the area around South Onondaga and Navarino. The first few came through
between 1798 and 1804. There is a possibility that your ancestor came from
the same area. "

I am having some trouble at the moment finding an online map of CT that will show me how far Middletown, Middlesex County is from Ashford, Windham County.. to see if its possible that this fellow came during the same time period and place as the families my friend mentions in his email quoted above.

Ill be nosing around online trying to find more info about the McKee family. Interesting if they came over as Mackay, got misspelled as McKee, and then went back to a more phonetic spelling in Mackeye or Mackyes.. and all that much more difficult to locate, follow, and prove... but I sure would like to find a connection!

Thank you so much!
