Seeking info on Scottish ancestry of Capt. James MacKay, born 1759 in Kildonan Parish, Sutherlanf Co., Scotland, and died 16 March 1822 in St. Louis, Mo. His maps of Upper Missouri River were used by Lewis & Clark Expedition. Ancestry World Tree (Ancestry.com) traces him back only through George (and Elizabeth MacDonald), James, John, William and Murdoch (born c. 1625). Capt. James MacKay was married to Isabella Louisa Long (1783?1860), who died in St. Louis. Is he connected to any of the Clan MacKay branches in Scotland?
