I am looking for any information on my GG Grandfather, Alexander McKay. Born in Scotland (possibly Islay or Skye), was married to Flora McDiarmid in Cape Fear area of North Carolina by 1830. Children: Mary and John McKay b. 1830, Margaret McKay b. 1834, Isabella McKay b. 1836, James Alexander McKay b. 1837 in Cheraw district of Chesterfield, SC, Virginia McKay born in Georgia about 1840. Alexander is reported to have died in Cedartown, GA about 1839 or 1840. The family continued on to Alabama by about 1841, settling in Talladega then Clay Co. Alabama. Any information will be greatly appreciated!
