My father John Alexander MacKay b. June 17, 1905 d. April 8, 1938. I was nine months old when he died and have not been able to find out very much about him. This I do know.
Married Dorothy E. McKown, was a violinist, a 1st Lt in the 99th Divison (Reserves)and was an officer of a CCC camp in Shelocta, Indiana County, Pa. I have a copy of a letter a John MacKay wrote the army in regards to a military marker for his son on Blaw-Knox stationery, Pittsburgh, Pa. This was written in 1938. His death certificate list him as being born in Pittsburgh,Pa. but in the 1930 census is listed as being born in New York. I did get a copy of his death certificate but where the parents are listed, it is blacked out (he may have been adopted). I would really appreciate any information and if there are any relations I would really like to have contact with them. I have reason to believe that he grew up at 7041 Willard St. Pittsburgh, Pa.
