Hello Donald,
Iam actually of Scottish (Craig & Macgregor) and Irish descent. I married into a Scottish family MACKAY.
My father in law was ADAM MACKAY, sister HENRIETTA AMY
their father was JAMES, mother listed as JANE on ADAM'S
DEATHE CERT 1957. Their mother was INA MACKAY (maiden name), born at Kirtomy Scottish Highlands. ADAM & HENRIETTA, better known by her middle name as AMY, which caused a bit of confusion to me at first. AMY married a JAMES DUNNET.
ADAM's place of birth was listed as ARMADALE, Farr,Sutherland on his service record when joining in Liverpool 1915.
He and Ina married in Randwick Sydney Aust. in 1923.
Ina had a brother also born in Kirtomy. One of her brothers was ANGUS born Kirtomy who joined for WW1 service at the same time as ADAM who was to be his brother in law.
I am looking for the 'quantum Leap'. Stuck on James Mackay who I believe may have died some time during the WW1
as ADAMS service record states he went AWOL at some period
due to family reasons. Believe his mother pre-deceased her husband James

ANGUS brother of INA of Kirtomy had given his next of kin as Ivy Mackay. No mention of his father who I assume was already deceased.
ADAM gave his fathers name JAMES MACKAY on joining service 1915 as his next of kin. However on his marriage certificate (Randwick NSW Aust) dated 1923 his father was recorded as deceased.
A Tall Solid brick wall.
Unkless I can find James date of death etc. and get the detais of his parents I am stuck.
to your knowlege would there be anything in you research that would have thrown up any of these people? I would be grateful for any snippet.
Perhaps there could be something I could help you with in the future.
Would appreciate a reply to my email address at
