Hi Robin. I live in BC. Douglas and I are third cousins. My Grandfather and his brother came to Canada on their way to the Klondyke Gold Rush and eventually settled in the Kispiox Valley in Northern BC. They farmed there as well as did a lot of prospecting. They also worked as linemen on the telegraph line that went through the area.

My Grandfather offen referred to another prospector which the locals in that area as Sourdough MacKay. Not much is known about SourDoughas he was always travelling around prospecting in the Province including the Nelson area.No one knows what ever happened to him.

I do remember as a child my father trying to locate the family in Nelson without sucess.

I will now try and search for a George MacKay.
