Have been searching for info on Capt John Mackay myself. Am from the city of Mackay in Qld. Spent last two years in Scotland and tried to find birthplace of John Mackay but no one could help me. Had been told Inverness, Bonar Bridge, and an unknown town on the shores of Loch Ness. No luck. Friend said he saw years ago in Scotland a sign announcing a place as the birth place of Mackay, who founded the town in Qld, but he could not remember where it was. I have no family connection to John Mackay, just an interest in the man who founded my hometown & the connection with my husband's birth country.
