Linda: you did not list any dates with your query on George Mackay and Elizabeth Mackay. Can you add any more about them or list their children.
I too have a George McKay who married an Elizabeth McKay (not related) and spelling of last name varies. I have eight children born about 1820's to 1847. Children were born in Truro, Lockbroom, Pictou County, Nova Scotia...so doubt if we have the same couple. Childrens names were Jessie, Robert, William who married Elizabeth "Libby" Stewart; Daniel b. 1830 who married Elizabeth Mc Donald; Christine b. 1832, m.1855 in Boston,Mass. Alexander Duncan Ross; Mary A. born 1834, m. James Arthur Lean, she died 1917 in Cohasset, mass.; Barbara b. 1842, m. 1867 Thomas Robinson; and Katherine "Kate" b. 1847 married Robert Robinson (brother to Thomas).
