My grandfather was Jan Macko, born in Sejkov, in eastern Slovakia, in 1899. The area was the district of Zemplin. His grandfather was Juraj (George) Macko, born ca. 1842 in the same area. The most common names in the family were Michal, Anna, Andrej, Stefan, and Juraj. My grandfather immigrated with my grandmother to New Jersey in 1928, then moved to Pennsylvania.

Does this strike a responsive chord with anyone?
