My name Joe Macko. I live In Poland. I am collecting information about history of my family. In past lot of my ancestors, leave native land and emigrate to USA. I found a lot of interesting information about this matter. My grandfather and his family was removed roughly from their native land Lemkovyna in 1947, by communist in "Operation Wisla" on the north-western part of Poland. A am a greek catholic, but I was baptized in orthodox church. When I was a young boy.I remember my grandfather, who received letters from USA. He had a brother over there, I suppose.
When my grandfather died contact with his family stopped. My grandfather named Dymitr and was born near Komancza. He lived in Turzansk utill 1947.I fund in internet very interesting information about history Colonel Charles Macko, who was the pilot of a B-57 bomber and his aircraft was shot down during the mission in Wietnam War. Charles Macko has a tombstone at Arlington National Cementary, on which is orthodox cross. George Timothy Macko served as a tank commander in the Army during the Persian Gulf War. Another one, Bill Macko was a of six victims killed in the first terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in 1993.
I am very proud of my name. The name is a hungarian descent, and means "teddy bear".I shall appreciate any information concern Charles Macko, especially his
father`s and granfather`s name or any family related. I hope sobedy will be abble to help me in this matter. I can speek ukrainian, but I have not computer letters in this language.
Here is the list of my ancestry: Mikołaj Macko,Dymitr/Mytro/ Macko, Jan/Iwan/ Macko, Wasyl Macko, Andrzej Macko, Helena Macko/ Wasylyszyn/, Ewa Macko/Segin/,
