Ray Macomb in WA 1905
The Cheney Free Press, Cheney, Washington, June 9, 1905.
Ray Macomb had quite a burglarious experience last week.He and his wife had been stopping at Dave Young's and one night Ray stayed out with the boys rather late. When he wandered toward the house, the lights had gone out and in order not to disturb the folks he thought of the brilliant idea of gaining entrance to his room by going through the window a la burglar. He raised the sash and had no more than done so before he was greeted by a teffific scream from within. This was followed by a succession of screams louder than the first, interspersed with yells of murder, ect.For a moment Ray lost all hope, especially when the neigbors began to arrive with pitchforks, stove pokers and sundry other articles of warfare, thinking that a tragedy was about to be enacted. He was finally recognized and everything was explained. It seems that Ray and his wife had on previous nights occupied the room to which he had gained entrance, but that during the day an old lady had arrived and she was assigned to the room.Ray was ignorant of these vital factrs, hence his mistake.
I'm not related to this person, but sure had a good laugh over the article.
