This is a great story. My great grandfather was a young man living with his sister Annie Eagleson in Beauly, Scotland. One night he and two of his friends decided that they would flip a coin to see which country they would visit. One went to South America, one to Australia, and my great grandfather came to Canada.
My family has always wondered about connections back in GBR. I know his father was Pryce Macpherson, a watchmaker. His mother was Mary Ann Budding, and I've managed to track down the date of her christening, January 18, 1846 in Bromley, Kent, England. They were married April 20, 1868 in Saint James, Westminster, London, England.
George was born July 8, 1874 in Richmond, London, England.
He had an older brother John Patrick, c. August 4, 1872 in Richmond, London, England.
Annie Caroline was an older sister, c. Aug 21, 1870. (also born in Richmond)
There was also two younger brothers,
Herbert (a cartographer), we know he lived in Dunfermline, Scotland because he owned a bookstore there,
and David, who died at 24 of a heart condition. I think that possibly they were born in Beauly, Scotland, but I can't find the records.
If anyone knows anything about my family, please email me @ email@example.com.
