LINE #7 - Haplogroup R1b1. Haplogroup R1b1 is the most common haplogroup in European populations. It is believed to have expanded throughout Europe as humans re-colonized after the last glacial maximum 10-12 thousand years ago. This lineage is also the haplogroup containing the Atlantic modal haplotype.

DNA TEST Kit #43984 -- This is a 37 marker DNA kit. This participant is a close match to participants in the MACNEIL SURNAME Y-DNA PROJECT and has also joined that group. MacPherson of Barra is closely connected to McNeil of Barra. Barra is an island in the Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland.

LINE #9 - Haplogroup E3b2. This haplogroup is most common in northwestern Africa, is found at very low frequency in eastern Africa, and has not been detected in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is found in the same regions as the Berber-speaking populations and is estimated to be approximately 5,600 years old. People from this area travelled north through the Iberian Peninsula eventually arriving in Ireland.
