Glad to hear from you and make a connection. Norain has sent copies of photos of Muriel. This is what I have about the McRae connection.
Farquar McRae's father was a farmer.
Farquar McRae was born in Roshire Scotland.

Christina Stuart married John McLeod. They had a daughter Mary McLeod who was born in Roshire Scotland.

Mary McLeod married Farquar McRae. They had a daughter Mary McRae who was born in Nova Scotia who married John Lang who was also born in Scotland.

Children of Mary and John Lang:

Mary Lang born in Bruce Mines,Ontario Dec 10, 1864
John C. Lang born in Bruce Mines, Mar 4, 1865
Farquhar Lang born in Bruce Mines, July 30, 1867 (he was called "Frank")
Olive Blanch Lang born in Houghton Co Michigan, Nov 27, 1869
(am in touch with her granddaughter Audrey Shortreed in BC).
She married Samuel Jackson, their daughter Olive Jackson married Grant Turner, their daughter Audrey Turner married
Les Shortreed.
Kathaleen Lang born in Marquette Mich Oct 29, 1871. She married William Selders.
Margaret Lang born in County of Bruce, "Blythe" April 19, 1876(not sure of handwriting) m. Steinhoff then Perrine, you know the rest.
Annie Lang born in County of Ashfield, "Blythe", Ontario May 20 1879. She married Nuttall.
Isabella Lang born in Bruce County "Kintail" April 20, 1882.
Married Charles Morrison Young. Lived in Nelson, BC.

Family history says that John Lang, an engineer, abandoned his family, i.e. left Mary McRae for another woman. Our grandmother, being the youngest had no knowledge of him. One of my lifelong searches will be to find out where he went.

More later. And yes, I've seen the info on the web about the castle in Scotland. The Lang connection is also partly Scottish.

There are at least two Matthew Langs in our family. One was a brother of John Lang, and one a son of another of their brothers, James Lang. I have copies of correspondence between "Frank" Lang and Matthew Lang.

Most of this info comes from a note written by my grandmother, Isabella Lang. Can you send me your email address? I'd be happy to be included on the email list of McRaes.

Best regards, Donna
