Our info is sketchy at best but so far we have the following info: Neil MacRae & Catherine Maclean had 4 children on Skye:
Murdock - born abt. 1804 died 1876 in Quebec
Alexander - not sure of birth but found christening in 1814
John William - b 1810 died 1914 in Quebec
Mary- don't know birth but christened in Strath on Skye 30 July 1831....
We know that John & Murdock came to Canada in 1832 so it is possible that Mary had a late baptism knowing she was going on a long sea voyage. According to family tradition John & Murdock where the first to settle the community of Harrington, Quebec. I have research 4456 descendents of these two. Family tradition says the two others came over and settled in Nova Scotia area but I don't know marriages etc.
Does any of this info match your Mary who married the Mcfadyen?? Is there an Alexander connected to her in any way?
I am still trying to find wills for Murdock & John to see if they mentioned any other family but it is difficult dealing with the Quebec government in getting these things. The wills are usually with the land records but the land records prior to 1900 have "disappeared" from the local office and I can't get the death certificate for John at this point because I don't know "exact" day of death!
If anything here sounds promising maybe we can work it from both ends to make the connection.
E. Lloyd MacRae
