I am John Macrae, a descendant of Alexander Macrae b.1734. My father is Roderick Macrae; his father was William Macrae, his father was William Macrae, his father was Rev William Macrae, his father was Donald Macrae born Jan 1762 (son of the Alexander about whom you were enquiring).

I have done a fair amount of research over the past twenty-five years and I am happy to share this. Do you still have the Gaelic Bible? I know of this and I hold a copy of the Macrae notes written into it.

Your "Munald Macrae" is Ronald Macrae who died between 1851 and 1855; your "Moderisk Macrae" is Roderick Macrae.

Anyone descended from these Black Isle Macraes (often known as the "Killearnan Macraes") is welcome to make contact. (john_whitelands@yahoo.co.uk)
