One of the things I did at the LDS Research Center was spen about 4 hours researching Phillip McRae in Anson Co. and have a stack of print outs about them. The first William McRae I have found was in Kintail Scotland and I have been trying to connect the Kintail McRaes to the North Carolina McRaes. From my research I believe the first McRaes came to North Carolins in 1769-1774 because of the English who wanted to make sheephearders out of them, refused to allow them to speak Galic, no freedom of religion and not allowing them to wear their kilts.
Phillip McRae born Ross-shire Scotland and died Brooks Co, Ga. married Elizabeth in Anson Co. NC. His children were.
Isabella.. -1800
Anne ?
William ?
John ?
Margaret 1807
Alexander 1811
Daniel 1812
Cornelius 1816
I believe Isabella married William Columbus Teal and Margaret married Allen Teal
The son of Isabella, Benjamin F. Teal married Eliza Davis, daughter of William Davis and Julia Thurman and this where my grandmother, Ida Teal fits in when the son of Benjamin married Nancy Jane Davis.
I have so many notes that need to be researched and will get back to you after go through them .
