I hope you are enjoying your copies of the wills? I also wanted to say that if you have information on other Anson County NC McRaes who moved to Barbour County Alabama or where I can contact others with info or locate some information, please let me know.
I also wanted to correct a statement from an earlier posting. Here are the numbers of McRaes found during the 1790 to 1850 censuses:
1790 had 1 head of household
1800 had 9 heads of household
1810 had 22 heads of household
1820 had 24 heads of household
1830 had 23 heads of household
1840 had 14 heads of household
1850 had 8 heads of household

You can see how quickly the families were moving on as the other states started opening up their lands and the NC lands wore out. My ancestor moved to Lafayette County MS while one of his brothers moved to Marshall County MS. But I have seem records in the Anson County court house for deeds for McRaes living in Florida, Illinois, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississppi, Tennessee, South Carolina, Lousianna and finally your Alabama. They sure did move fast. My line finally ended up in Texas. LD, be sure to keep me posted on your research. I will help you if I can.
