I did one whole tour at the Nederland Tx. LDS Family research center tracking down as many McReas as I could specilally in Scotland. It is my belief that the Mcraes of Anson County came from Kintail Scotland in the 1700's but as yet cannot prove. It is my belief that Christophers family was Phillip McRae/Mary McCleandon but have yet not proved it. There was another Phillip McRae who fought with the Loyalist and received a pension from the British. The Barbour Co Ala 1860 Census had 17 McRaes livng there all listed as being born in NC.
One Colin McRae, born in Scotland about 1756 married Isabella 1808. His sons John, 1809, Archibald 1811, James 1812, Colin 1814 all in SC. So it seems that Colin married Isabella in SC. She was born in Scotland, about 1786 Colins parents, John McRae/Isabella McKenzie. Isabella's parents were Archibald McRae/Janet McLeod.
Two. Daniel McRae, born 1753, married Margaret McRae.
Thier children, Flora. born NC..Catherine no dates but listed as marryng Ebbie Britton. Farquard, 1799, NC and died in Wayne Co. Miss. 14 Jan 1891. Married Rachael Britton .. Daniel McRae, born 1802, NC and married Catherine McLaughlin... John W. McRae, born NC 1807 and married to Margaret McLaughlin... Colin born 1808, NC,and married to Flora Ann Moody....Alexander McRae,born 1814, NC and married to Ann Taylor.... Murdock, born 1816, NC and married to Noami Taylor....and Nancy Ann McRae, born 1820 in Wayne Col Miss and married to John Hugh Taylor,... Elizabeth McRae born 1827 and married to David Britton. (It looks like these McRaes moved to Wayne Co. Miss.
These I found in the Family Group Record at the LDS Center.
looks like a whole bunch of us would up in Texas. lol
I live in Nederland TX.
