Hi! Mike,

Yes we are connected. John McRae and Mary McLennan were my GGG grandparents. I am also directly related to Mary's brother Donald McLennan who married Christiana McKenzie. They too were my GGG grandparents. To even confuse you more, John and Mary's daughter Margaret McRae (my GG grandmother) married her 1st cousin John McLennan (Kelly's Plains).

I looked up the chart of the family history of our McRae's and there are about 6 generations where 1st cousins have married 1st cousins. Its a wonder we can all get out of bed and walk. They are now saying that Donald Sealgair (the Hunter) John Roy's father, married his first cousin Margaret Macrae who was of the Conchra line. DNA samples have been sent to Scotland to chose a chief but so far nothing has happened. This family must be one of the most complexed families to try and work out, especially when 1st cousins kept marrying 1st cousins.

Margaret McRae's sister was Christina who married Donald Cameron of Fassifern. Hugh Cameron is hoping to have a family reunion in New England next year. He did ask could I assist him but I have been busy with uni studies.

My mother was also a Cameron but supposedly a Lochiel Cameron whereas your Cameron's (who are cousins to me as well) are supposedly Erracht Cameron's. In other words they were brothers back in Scotland. All Cameron's relate back in Scotland.

I am Vice President and Social Secretary of Clan Cameron NSW and President of Clan McLennan NSW & ACT, so there is never a dull moment. I am currently doing my BA majoring in history and have two subjects to go.

Sorry you didn't make it to the McRae gathering at Armidale. There is one on in Scotland for the McRae's next year. I went five years ago in 2000. Most interesting.

Anyway just before I finish my grandmother was Annie (Nance) Cameron (nee McLennan, a direct descendant of the McRae's of Kintail and also the McLennan's of Contin).

Sue Catterall ADLAH - your cousin
