Gordon. I have a copy of The History of the Clan Macrae (1899 by Rev Alexander Macrae), and I have photocopies of the later additions in his 1910 limited edition. In the latter, some of my Killearnan Macrae ancestors are listed in a separate appendix (with several errors that my research has corrected). But the author could not positively link the Killearnan Macraes to any other Macrae branches though the likely link is suggested. I too have failed to find evidence of any positive connection but I continue to be hopeful.

If you can directly trace and verify your Macraes back to 1280 then you are most fortunate indeed. With mine I continue to hovver about 1700. Best wishes.
