Good evening:

Many of your early MacRea/McRae's came from Inverness - Dornie - Isle of Skye - and Kintail, Rosshire - but even into about 1881, the larges population of MacRae/McRae were in the Inverness arer - the second most populated area were Kirkwall & Dundee with the least population in Aberdeen & Edinburgh -

The first MacRae/McRae's that I can find in my books here arrived shortly befoe the RevWar "Ian and 9 sons left " Scotland to come to the colonies - Ian (John) did not survive the 6 month crossing and is buried at sea with the 9 remaining sons surviving - they all setteled in what is today along the North & South Carolina borders - 2 of them, Roderic & John fought on the side of the Crown in the RevWar and when the war was over, they were forced to move to Canada - the remainder stayed in the states -- and then as you and many other researchers have found out, they moved on south and some went west -

My particular line kinda stayed in North Carolina - great - great -great granddaddy was Daniel (Long Daniel) or Daniel Esq, Wife: Sarah MacKenzie daughter of Murdock MacKenzie (Isle of Skye)- Daniel and Sarah were probably married in Scotland and then he brough her to North Carolina - this is only a guess on may part since I can fidn no record of them being married in North Carolina.
Daniel & Sarah lived on land that he was given by his father Farquar - but again I can find no record of him coming to the Colonies nor his death.

Daniel Douglas MacRae/McRae married and lived on the same land that his daddy had lived on. Daniel DOuglas & Susan Catherine (Nicholson) MacRae are buried at the Old Nicholson Cemetery in Ellerbe, NC , William Farquar and Mary Daniel (Newton) MRae are buried at Eastside in Rockingham , their daughter Zola Mae (McRae) Gibson is buried at eastside. Grandma's sister Sue married, raised a family and is also buried at east side - the other sister was a teacher at the Bostic school in Ellerbe, she's buried in Ellerbe, not sure where - her brother Luther Cecil was a taecher and her other brother Willaim Douglas worked in the Chicago area and I think in one of those companies where they made cars & such out of metal.

Almost all the children are gone now. My mother, one brother and one sister are the only children left that I know of from William Farquar & Mary Daniel (Newton) MacRae - Uncle Cecil had one son Cecil Jr - I don't know if he ever married or had any children --

If you want any more information on this line let me know
