Misty
Thank you for your inquiry; it was a good while ago when I posted this initial posting on my potential family. I have made three trips to Anson County and one trip to the State Archives in Raleigh researching this family. I am now pretty sure that my Farquhar McRae married Catherine Campbell in Richmond County NC then moved to Anson County on about May 4, 1794. Catherine was the daughter of John Campbell of (I believe) Richmond County but I have not done any of that research as of yet. 1794 was the date of the first land he purchased in Anson County. I am also now sure that this is my family line as well. Farquhar and Catherine were in the 1830 census of Anson County but the land transaction was written January 16, 1834. So Farquhar died between these two times. These are Farquhar and Catherine’s children born between 1790ish and 1811ish:
1. John C. (Campbell) McRae moved to Lafayette County MS then returned to Anson County NC and married Wincy Diggs circa 1837 then returned to Lafayette County MS. This is my line.
2. Archibald C. McRae married Jane McKenzie circa 1823 Anson County NC but soon died circa February 1836 Anson County NC.
3. Alexander McRae TBD
4. Hugh McRae moved with his brother John to Lafayette County MS then he moved to Marshall County MS and married Catherine McDonald on October 9, 1845 and raised his family there.
5. Margaret McRae moved with her two brothers to Lafayette County MS and married John Campbell circa 1843 and raised her family there.
6. Elizabeth McRae TBD
7. Daniel McRae married in Anson County NC to most likely Margaret Ferguson circa 1816 and died between 1830 and 1834 as reflected in the below land transaction.
Lastly, I do not know what happened to Catherine McRae the wife of Farquhar but I believe she moved out to Tennessee to be with one of the children or one of her Campbell relatives.

Misty from reading some of your other postings you seem to be familiar with Richmond and surrounding counties so you may know that the early marriage books of Anson County were destroyed in 1868 when the Anson County Courthouse burned. That is somewhat the case in Lafayette County MS because the early marriages (prior to 1848) are no where to be found. No one I have spoken with in Lafayette County seems to know what happened to them. I am sure that Margaret McRae married John Campbell there but there are no early marriage records available so I had to go on other less sure records.
Below is the land transaction that was used to sell the land owned by Farquhar McRae to Henry Haney in 1834 for your review? If you have any insight regarding all this information, please feel free to post a reply and share your thoughts with me.
