Hi there

Hope you are still on this site and active. John 'Duncan Baynes son' or McRae was born in Kintail in 1784. He was living above Eillean Donan Castle at a place called Keppoch, when he made the journey down to Achnagart to marry Isabella. She was the daughter of Donald McRae and his father was Duncan McRae. John's father Duncan Ban McRae lived in Bundalloch and believe it or not he was still living and sired a daughter called Ann in 1819.........His wife was Ann McRae.

John moved around a fair bit and he lived for a time at Kilmonivaig, near Glengarry before moving back to the Ross area where he farmed a small holding called Bernera Farm with other children who accompanied him to that area. He died there in June 1871. I would really like to swop more information on this line with you. By the way I still live in the Highlands and not too far from Eillean Donan. Hope to hear from you, Best wishes Martin McRae Halligan
