Martin Thanks for the enquiry. I have been studying my Black Isle Macrae family for many years and immediately your Black Isle marriage of a Donald Macrae and Janet Fraser was on my radar. To this date I have been unable to link this to my Macrae family though I strongly believe there is a direct link. I do have a paper on the descendants of a John Macrae, Inverness watchmaker who moved to Pollokshaws but I cannot definitely link it to my Black Isle Macraes ~ I wish I could! Are you referring to John Macrae who in Inverness on 16 July 1840 married Janet Macdonald who was born in Fodderty, Ross-shire on 17 February 1815 and died in 1840/1841; and who secondly married Margaret Milne on 12 April 1844? I am happy to send you a copy of my own Black Isle Macrae paper if it may be of interest. I am very interested to hear of your Macrae line, particularly since you link your John Macrae back to Donald Macrae and Janet Fraser (on the Black Isle).
