BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Peter J. Madden was married twice.
WIFE # 1: Eliza.
WIFE # 2: Jane M.

Peter J. Madden and his first wife, Eliza, became the parents of at least four children:
1) Lydia Madden (b. abt. 1861).
2) Susan Irene Madden (b. abt. 1863).
3) Robert Madden (b. abt. 1866).
4) Gracie Madden (b. abt. 1867).

Peter's first wife, Eliza, apparently died in abt. 1872.
Peter, with several young children to care for, married his second wife, "Jane M.", within the next year or so.

Peter and "Jane M." became the parents of at least two children:
1) Elwood Madden (born abt. 1873).
2) Myra V. Madden (1874-1967).

[1910 CENSUS: Missing].

Jane M. Madden apparently died sometime between 1885 (when she is found on the 1885 IOWA STATE CENSUS in Douglas, Montgomery County, Iowa, with her husband, Peter Madden, and their family), and 1920.

By 1920, Peter Madden is residing with his youngest daughter, Myra V. [Madden] Bartlett, in Kansas.

FAMILY: Also of interest is that in 1880, Robert Madden, his wife, and children, are in Douglas, Montgomery County, Iowa; as was Peter Madden. Esther [Madden] Porter was nearby, in Cass County, Iowa, as was Thomas William Porter, and his wife, Alice Lunetta [Porter] Madden.
