I may be able to clear up some of this. Alsey was 58 when she died. I'm familiar with the stone, having grown up in Willow Hill and visited the cemetery almost every year. However I never really appreciated the parents' and grandparents' stories until I started trying to trace the line.

William M.'s (my grandfather) farm was about 2 mi East of Brockville cem., and about 3/4 mi W of Rte 49. Grandad also owned 20A of timber land straddling Crooked Creek, just South of the cemetery. We were at Grandad and Mom's (Anna) about every holiday and sometimes more often.

George Madden's farm was less than a half mile W from William M. The house was abandoned. Ol (Oliver) Madden's farm house was about 200 yds further West from George and on the North side of the road. Ida, George's wife, was Anna's sister and her maiden name was Davis. Ida remarried and lived in Whittier, CA when I was stationed near there in the middle '50's. Her husband then was William Meyn. Ida and Anna's father was James Alger Davis, who died in 1934. Their mother was Sophia Jane Harrison. Both are buried in Bethel Cemetery, SE of Yale.

I haven't tracked down the histories of Clella, Bertha and Riley, but they were Dad's "double cousins", i.e., George was William's brother and Ida was Anna's sister. Clella and Bertha would visit Mom and Grandad occasionally (these were the years during and just after WWII) and were living in SE Indiana. Riley, I believe, was in California. I only saw him once or twice.

I hope this helps. I'll stop now and write more later. I'll also coordinate this with my brother, David, 2 1/2 years older, who I'm sure, remembers more than I do.
