Hi Jim,

We may have some information to share. My great grandmother was Julia A Madden, William Thomas' sister. Julia came to live with her brother when their mom, Bridget passed. Julia was 12 at that time. To my knowledge, there were ten children born to Bridget and James.

My grandfather, Thomas Tobin, was in touch with a somewhat distant cousin of his in 2000 or so, named Tim McNamara. Tim had gathered significant data about the Madden/Sheridan/McNamara family and shared it with my grandfather before his (my grandfather's) passing in 2001. I am not sure if Tim is still living, but I do have I have data. I have also gathered more at

I don't know specifically what information you may be looking for regarding James, but I can't help you there. I've been stumped for a while now, unable to reach back further. I can tell you that Bridget's parents are Martin and Honora Sheridan, but do not have information beyond them.

Of significant interest to me also is your dad! In Tim's notes is mention of William's marriage to 'Wally Clare' - assumedly, that is the Walburga Francesca Clarer, of whom you write - your grandmother. Also in Tim's notes is indication of your dad, Leonard, though it says his middle name is Jerome. Beyond that, the notes say (regarding Wally), 'They divorced. We have very little information about her, this marriage, or Leonard and his life.' Now - I should tell you also that there is reference to a 'first' wife, Margaret Mitchell, so your grandmother was apparently William's his second wife. They also had a child, Thomas James. Tim's notes indicate that Margaret died one year and one day after Thomas was born. Are you familiar with Margaret or Thomas?

Hmmm. What a pleasant surprise to know that I might have lots of information for you! I'd be happy to share what I have, if you would be interested in emailing me. Perhaps we could compare notes as well.
