This is a long shot. I am researching the background of my 3g-grandfather Thomas Parsons, who was born in the 1780s, settled in McMinn County, Tennessee, in 1824, and died there in 1836.

One of his children, Rebecca Parsons, married a John Rutledge, and in a Bible in that family it states that Rebecca was the daughter of Thomas Parsons and Susan Madice.

I've never seen the spelling Madice anywhere else, and I assume it was spelled in the Bible the way the writer heard it pronounced--and that it is probably Mades or some variation of that name.

Do any of you Madeses out there have family from East Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, or South Carolina from the late 1700s?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
