I am helping a friend research her Madison ancestors and am seeking any help from other Madison researchers.
My friend's mother was Annie Goldie Madison, b. 5 Oct. 1890 in Somerset, VA. Her parents, according to a newspaper clipping, were James Alfred Madison and Katherine Harris.
Annie Goldie Madison's siblings were:
*Flossie, b. 26 May 1893; d. 1984 in Alexandria, VA. She married Walter L. Longerbeam. Flossie was a student at the Miller Manual School of Labor in Albermarle Co., VA according to the 1910 census.
*Ila L., b. 1881-1884; married to M.R. Hillhouse. They lived in Pittsylvania Co., VA in the 1930 census but may have moved to Alexandria, VA later.
*James A., b. ca. 1899.
*Beula V., b. ca. 1884.
All of the children were born in VA.
The 1900 census for Barbour Dist., Orange Co., VA shows a Madison household with all of the above children. The head of household is a widow. b. ca. 1865 in VA. Her name is difficult to read - maybe Pammie? Annie and her siblings are listed as children of this widow.
Annie Goldie Madison married a W. B. Sanderford sometime before 1913. He as a resident of Wilmington, NC in 1913. The marriage was annulled or ended in divorce. (Annie is shown on the Granville Co., NC census in 1910 working as a hat maker, which she did for many years. However, she was probably living in Charlottesville, VA in 1913.) Annie married secondly to Arthur Crawford Little in 1915 in Georgia. They lived in Commerce, GA and Royston, GA.
There is some family lore that the above Madisons were somehow distantly related to Pres. James Madison.
I would greatly appreciate any information that you could share regarding this family - particularly James Alfred Madison.
