Anders Madsen

Had a house in Kristiansand, Norway

Anders Madsen had a brother that settled in Sweden and bought up a lot of land and forest. He was called the "Forest Baron". There was another brother but details are unknown.

Ander's father died at a early age, he was brought up by a uncle.

Reugerike hole pared, Norway place of birth
Ringerike borders to the municipalities of Hole, Modum, Krødsherad, Flå, South-Aurdal, Southern Land, Gran, Jevnaker, Lunner, and Oslo, while Hole borders to Ringerike, Modum, Bærum and Lier.

Anders was the first locomotive engineer in Norway. He took his training from Stephenson in England and wore a uniform. By 1866 the first railroad, connected the city of Drammen to the northeastern village of Vikersund on its way to Hønefoss and Lake Rand. In 1867 the railroad passed the small village of Tyristrand and continued north finally reached Hønefoss. On October 12, 1868 the first train ran non-stop from Drammen and to Lake Rand in Oppland County. The railroad was named the Randsfjordbanen after Lake Rand its final destination. Another railroad was constructed from Hønefoss to the northern village of Hen and Lake Sperillen which was also connected to the Randsfjordbanen. Four years later, in 1872, the railroad joined the cities of Christiana (Oslo) and Drammen giving Hønefoss access to the great eastern cities. Finally, in 1909 the railroad reached Bergen and established and the link between the great metropolitan areas was complete. Hønefoss have ever since been a center for the connection between the eastern and western parts of Norway.

This census was taken on 31 December, 1875, and covers the entire country. Like the 1865 census, the 1875 census is in two parts, the Hovedliste (index) and the Specialliste. The Specialliste includes persons who were temporarily away, and the information contained with regards to these persons can give us clues as to where relatives were living. The 1875 census also included a census of sailors, with each vessel having its own list.
