My grandparents on my mother's side were Peter & Minnie Madsen. They lived in Coulter Iowa. Minnie died in 1970 and Peter died in 1944. He was a farmer and owned 5 farms. He migrated to Selma, California just pre-depression but the farms he had sold all came back due to lack of payment and he had to return to Iowa to take control of them. They had six children: Anita, Gilberta (my mother), Leon, Vera, Leon, & Virginia. Vera is still alive and well at 89 and Virginia, likewise at 79. They currently live in Northfield, MN. Only Gilberta left Iowa and she returned to California to meet and later marry Carl Almgren. Carl was from Gavle, Sweden.
