In 1875 Andrew was 15 years old, along with his brothers Jantz and Cristine, he came to America. They left Denmark traveling to Scotland, and on to New York. In time, they moved to Omaha, Ne. Jantz settled in Lincoln, Ne., Cristine in Berkley, Ca., and Andrew in western Kansas. The parents, failing to hear from the sons, named another son Jantz. The two girls came to America some time later, Mary was married and lived in Omaha, Ne., Anne was also married and settled in Danneborg, Ne.

Andrew Madsen was a carpenter, building contractor, realtor, and operated a chain of mercantile stores (5) around western Kansas.
