My g-grandmother came to South Dakota from Denmark in the 1880s, but died in 1898. Her name was Helena Holst, but had cousins with the surname of Madsen. Do you know if there is any connection? I've also heard that some of her Madsen family moved to Illinois, but changed their name to Madison. Any clues? I haven't started to research that line yet.
