We have a Jens MADSEN who was known as “Bestofar” (Grandfather) in the family of my wife’s mother. Jens & his wife Eggerdine (nee OLSEN) appear in the 1910 census in San Francisco, CA. Jens later lived with the family of his son, Jorgen Arnold Kaa MADSEN (1876-1968), in Salinas, CA. Our records list Jens birth-death dates as 1843-1937 and his wife Eggerdine Marie as 1847-1917.
My wife’s grandfather, Jorgen Arnold Madsen, came to the USA around 1900 and later traveled west with his uncle, Mads Jorgen MADSEN (1868-1926). Jorgen Arnold went to California while Mads went to Oregon. Mads settled near Silverton, OR and with his wife, Caroline, founded the Oregon branch of our Madsen family.
We have more data on the descendants of both Jens and Mads, but I do not find good data in my records on their parents. If this is the same family, perhaps a data exchange is in order.
