Christian Madsen, 1876, NYC

I am seeking information about the above who was born Feb. 25, 1851 in Schleswig-Holtein and migrated to the US in 1876. He had a son, C.Reno Madsen and a daughter, Mrs. Frank A. Derr of Guthrie, Oklahoma. He served in Danish Army, French Foreign Legion, US 5th Cavalry, as US Marshal, and with Rough Riders. He died 1/9/44. He, as well as one of my relatives, was one of Oklahoma's Three Guardsmen--the lawmen who cleaned up the Indian Territory.
Any help will be appreciated; I know the given story (I'm a Western Historian). But, I would like to verify his early life. Thank you.
Capt. GW Tilman
