If that is him and it is worth $27, the SSA will sell you a copy of his SSN app., which will have his parents' names.

If you go to the site, click on "SS-5".

Click on "Advanced" to specify a death year; that's how I found this one. I started with 1985 and worked forward.

Your husband's birth certificate should have his dad's age at the time and birth state.

Max's obit might help, if your husband knows where he lived at age 3.

Your mother-in-law may be covering up the fact that Max wasn't the real father, or that she had to get married. Use tact and be sensitive.
