Andres (AKA Andrew) Maestas. The only information that I have on this individual is that he married a daughter of Manuel Jaquez and Socorrito Gurule: Maria Eutimia Jaquez on February 10, 1899; place of births/marriage unknown. I estimate that if this was his first marriage, maybe he may have been about 20 years old, so probably born around 1879, give or take maybe a couple of years. They had the following children: Juan Francisco, born November 1900, Jose Guzman, Jose Benito, Juan Benjamin, Jose Carlos, Jose Andres, Maria (AKA Mary) Socorro, Erminia (AKA Esmeth/Esmiria) Soveida, and Sara (Sarah) Evila Maestas.
Juan (AKA John) Francisco Maestas married a daughter of Jose Ignacio Vigil and Juanita Vigil: Decideria Laura Vigil.
Their children are: Julian, d.2003, Betty, Viola, Dorothy, Jake E., Gloria, (Marlene, d. infant), Donna and Juanita Maestas.
A newspaper article dated September 7, 1921 states: "Andrew Maestas died instantly yesterday when his team ran away in Green's Gulch, this side of Maysville. His 14 year old son, thrown from the wagon, escaped injury with a scratched arm. The boy and his father had been employed on the Mehos ranch and had completed work for the day."
I believe that this article is form the Salida Mail newspaper, in which case 'this side of Maysville' would mean Maysville and Green's Gulch are between Salida and Monarch Pass. Any information, even a vague recollection from an elder's story, etc. could be helpful and very much appreciated. Thanks.
