Hello Max,

Thanks for the information. I'm sure that you are right about my possible father being from New Mexico. I have been searching the name Maestas, and most, if not all, seem to have a connection to New Mexico or Colorado.

My concern is that there seem to be several Robert Maestas' that lived in California, and I'm not certain which way to look. I do have an account with Ancestry.com, which gives a tremendous amount of information. Just that filtering that information is giving me a headache.

Hearing that the Maestas brothers(?) were commissioned to settle New Spain is very interesting. I studied history a bit in college, and when you have the time, I would really appreciate learning more about their history.

Perhaps we can exchange emails directly? Let me know, and I will provide my address. Unless, of course, it is already listed here and I'm too dense to see.
