My family name is shown as MAHAFFEE currently, but I have seen it spelled MAHAFFEY and even MAHAFFY. As my family moved to Rutherford County, NC apparently just before the year 1900, I might suggest that you look for different spellings to your family members, none of whose name is familiar to me.

I can trace my family back to my "dead end," Martin Hugh Mahaffey (1728-1793) who arrived in January 1768,in Charleston, South Carolina on the Brigantine "Chichester" from Belfast, Ireland. I do not know whether he was born in Ireland, or just embarked on his voyage from there.
