16 OCT 1749 - Oliver Mahaffy - "Read the petition of Oliver Mahaffy setting forth that the petitioners family consisted of three Persons that is to say two Child and one Slave for which he hitherto never took up any Land and being now desirous to cultivate One hundred and fifty acres of His Majesty's Vacant Land, prayed to grant him a Warrant of Survey for 150 Acres of Land on the north side of Wateree upon the Flat Rock Creek in Craven County. Signed Oliver Mahaffy."
15 Jan 1757 - This tract was sold to "George Sanders the younger planter, from Oliver Mehaffy and wife Phebe, all of Craven County - 150 acres of land above Fredericksburg Township, on a creek called Grannies Quarter, northeast side of Wateree River; bounded on all sides by vacant lands and being a grant to Oliver Mehaffy. Wit: Wm Harrison, McBrenen and Jno. Gray." (Deed Book M-3, pg 468 in Charleston SC)
Fredericksburg Township became obsolete after revolution because he was the Prince of Wales. This land is in Kershaw Co SC north of Camden.
Is there a relationship between the Mehaffys and George and Agnes Sa(u)nders?
