Glenda :Thank you for your note . I am searching for a W.E. Mahaffey, because I have an old sterling silver watch or key ring fob with that name stamped on it, and the date is 1922.First State Bank of
Eastland, Texas. On the back of the fob is printed " elevatorboy".
I wrote to Eastland, Tx. and they tried to research the name but came up with nothing.
I recently received a letter from the Chamber of Commerce asking me to donate it
to their new museum they are establishing in the old Connley Hotel.Back in the older
days the elevators were run by some one.Altho there were only a very few African
Americans in Eastland, in the 1920's as I remember as a child, the elevator man could
very well have been. Have You tried to research ?I understand that a lawyer by the name of Mahaffey, also had an office in the First State Bank there.
I left Eastland in 1928 at age fifteen and really don't remember too much about the town.I am getting old myself and wanted to
to put the relic some where, so I guess I will send it to Eastland for their museum.
