Mother's maiden name was Mahn

MY mother's maiden name was MILDRED THERESA MAHN. She & her sister METTA lived in Springfield Mass. Story is My great grandparents imigrated to United States prior to first World War and they were Von Mahn until Ellis Island. My Mother has been dead for over 10 years , but Her sister Metta is still alive in Reading Mass. Supposedly we have a baronial crest which shows a wild man (mahn) carrying a pine tree. Ther is supposed to be a town named Mahn in Germany. Does this make sense to anybody?
