I mentioned this to Ron Mahurin, and he had not thought of it either.Ron did not mention the vowel as one of the important aspects of the name though.I think that the Mathurin possibility from France is not accepted by everyone as even a possibility. The important thing that we do know is that Hugh chose to go to Massachussetts, which was very Calvinist.Since Hugh was not following Moravian leanings and was following Calvinist leanings, that certainly indicates the likelihood of his Theology. But, the Germans also called Moravia Mahren, as did the Austrians, and others. There was a cleansing of Germans from Moravia just after the conclusion of WWII, so there may have been people of other backgrounds in Moravia that did not follow Moravian Brethren teachings.Since we have exhausted the other possibilities for the moment, perhaps we should rattle this one around to see what water it could possibly hold.If there is no way that this could be the dorection, then it will lead to the next question, and somewhere along the way we may find the answer. Is there anything else that we know for sure, or anything that seems to be an earmark, such as the vowel "u".My email addr is [email protected]
