  of 40

Maire from Besancon,Doubs (25) Franche-Comte, France. This is near Switzerland. I found the marriage contract and marriage of Claude-Francois Maire (Le Maire) and Jeanne-Antoine Costille, Ste-Marie-Madeleine Sept. 1, 1729 and October 29, 1729. Sons Claude-Joseph and Jean-Baptiste with uncle Laurent Costille, fought in Am. Rev. In 1783 Jean-Baptiste my grandfather (several gens. removed) settled in Chambly, Quebec, Canada and married Marie-Madeleine Darche.
Have found many Maires in this area.
Anyone have any info?
