My name is Edward Maire and I read your posting. My grandfather, George Maire, was indeed French and from the Alcase-Lorraine territory of France. I am not aware of when his family arrived in America, but I know for sure that he is from the Alsace-Lorraine territory because of all the stories my mother and father told me about Alcase-Lorraine being controlled by either the French or Germans over different stages of history, and my grandfathers family always considered themselves French. I, myself, am born and raised in New Jersey. My father, Kevin Maire, was born and raised in Edison, New Jersey. I know my grandfather, who passed away in 1983, had brothers and sisters and many of them still live in New York and New Jersey. I saw that your posting was old, but feel free to email me and ask any questions.
Edward Maire
