Jean MAIRE to Scotland 1600s

Hi all,

We are trying to track down our ancestor. He was Jean Maire who came to Scotland in the mid to late 1600s with the Earl of Loudoun. The Earl had fled to France as he was a stanch Presbyterian and we believe that Jean Maire was of a similar faith. Apparently Jean was a "bodyman" of the Earl and was granted land in the Loudoun area of Ayrshire.

We desperately need any info. about Jean and his French roots, any help would be very gratefully received.

Thanks, Jarrod and Corlia.
