Hi,
My name is Patrick Marrie II.I live in Houston Texas.I oversaw your correspondence to Teri over the internet and found it interesting. You may be able to put together a few pieces of my family puzzle.
The most curious part of your correspondence was Sharpsville, PA.I happen to have my grandfathers original Certificate of Baptism. It is from the Church of St. Bartholomew in Sharpsville, PA.My grandfather's name is Martin Patrick Marrie the son of John and Mary Marrie. He was born in Sharpsville March 9th 1903 and baptized March 17th by Reverend M.A. Miller. The sponsor listed on the baptismal record in Stephan or Stephen Marrie.
From what I know, John Marrie can to America in 1897 according to the 1900 census.I think Marrie was recorded as Marie in that particular census. The only way I am pretty sure this is my grandfather's family is that the 1900 census record shows the family members as John and Mary and their child Edward Marrie which I know was my grandfather's brother (my grandfather did not show up the the 1900 census because he would not be born until 1903).
From what I know, the Marrie family worked in the steal mills of Pennsylvania. When my grandfather was a young man, he moved to Houston where he worked for Shell Oil in Pasadena Texas for over 30 years.I never knew much more about the family left behind in Pennsylvania. My father, Patrick John Marrie Sr., told me that he could only remember one or two trips to PA as a boy.
My grandfather was an accomplished violinist and loved to play Irish jigs on the violin. He married a full blooded Italian and they were married until his death in 1960.I never met my grandfather and recently lost my father to cancer in 2004.My dadhad one brother Frank Paul Marrie and he may be the only living Marrie in the Houston area that would remember any connection to the Marrie's of Pennsylvania.
If you have any information that you think might be interesting to me please let me know.
I am 37 years old and have lived in the Houston area all my life but have always wondered about the Marrie's in Pennsylvania.
Thanks,
Pat
