Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
My ggggrand-parents were George and Elizabeth (Mugford) Maliphant of Loughor, Wales. Their daughter, Elizabeth, immigrated to the US with her son, William George Harris, and daughter-in-law, Catherine (Richards) Harris and four grandchildren, William Richard, Mary Elizabeth, Clifford Marker and Ernest in 1899. They settled in rural Gas City, Indiana where William George's uncle, Charles Maliphant had opened a tin plate factory. At that time there was a huge natural gas boom in north central Indiana and free land and utilities were granted to anyone who opened a factory there. The gas was believed to be inexhaustable to the point where wells were drilled and set on fire that they lit up the night sky so brightly "you could read a newspaper by it". My grandfather was Clifford. He had one child William Russell, my father, born in 1926. William married Betty June Trueman in 1946 and had three sons, Jon Randall (1947), Gregory Allen (1951) and Mark Stuart (1952). We have all since relocated to Arizona. William, Randall and Greg all live in Tucson and Mark lives north of Phoenix in an old gold mining town of Cave Creek. We all have e-mail addresses and are interested in corresponding with other family members. I will be glad to send the William George Harris=Catherine Richards pedigree to any interested parties.
