Nathaniel's father is unknown.Given his movements and close contact with the other Mallorys who went from Ct to Vt and then Canada I think it's safe to assume he's a close relation, but no proof exists.I can tell with with certainty he is not a son of Daniel Mallory and Sarah Lee. I've read pages from his family bible and know he married Mary Cole (if I'm remembering correctly) and lived in Danbury and Redding Connecticut. The Bible listed many of his decendants as it was a birth gift to his granddaughter.
If you can find some proof of Nathaniel's parents it would make alot of people happy.
Interestly, a close relative, Ogden Mallory (first settler at Wells Rutland Vt) (who married his cousin Mary "Polly" Mallory had a son Benajah Mallory who married the daughter of Abigail coggswell and Abraham Dayton. They moved from Ct to the Friend's Settlement in NY and then started a settlement at Buford Upper Canada.Benajah's brother James lived next to the other Mallory's in Mallorytown.Abiah Dayton (wife of Benajah)was named after her maternal grandmother who was also named Abiah Beardsley.Abraham Dayton had a brother, Friend Dayton, whose decendants were Mormon and lived in Utah.(Abraham Dayton was a scout for Jemima Wilkinson, the Public Universal Friend, and help locate the settlement near New Jerusalem NY)Meridah Mallory was a follower of the Friend, but died that first winter (record cold)leaving three unmarried sons.Meridah was married to Mary Barnum...a relative of PT Barnum. She married second Judge John Dow)The sons married, and some decendants also ended up in Utah...though they were not Mormon.)Meridah's son John moved to Canada but was impressed into the service in the War of 1812.He escaped after about six months and returned to NY.His decendants moved to PA, including John Dow Mallory and Benajah Mallory b 1806 in Canada, and they later ended up in Michigan.
Benajah Mallory was declared a "traitor" in Canada after he left and fought against Canada in the War of 1812.His brother Gilbert also fought in the Rev War and the War of 1812.Benajah's wife and 3 daughters eventually returned to Canada to live with Abigail Coggswell Dayton and her second husband, col Simcoe.Col Simcoe, by the way, denied Amy Patterson's petition for a land grant by claiming Daniel Patterson, her father, wasn't technically UEL. Joseph Mallory called Simcoe, sepious...(whatever that means.)
Benajah was jailed in Albany over a land fraud deal (the temporary home of Caleb Mallory who was jailed for countfeiting before escaping back to Canada). While in jail he met the wife of another prisoner. After Abiah Mallory (his wife) died in Canada, Benajah married...and died a year later. His widow collected from both his rev war and war of 1812 pensions. She lived to be 106.
